Star Wars: Ahsoka Episode 8 “The Jedi, The Witch, and the Warlord” on Disney+ finally wrapped up a season of galaxy-hopping, lore-building, and more deep-cut Easter eggs than this lifelong Star Wars fan could just about handle. After Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) successfully tracked Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) to a whole new galaxy, she found herself reunited with padawan Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and long-lost Star Wars Rebels hero Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) on a strange world ruled over by the Nightsisters. Can she find a way home? Will Ahsoka foil Grand Admiral Thrawn’s evil plan? Did Baylon Skoll (Ray Stevenson) do something enigmatic and cool? Most importantly: how does Star Wars: Ahsoka end?

**Spoilers for Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 finale, now streaming on Disney+**

Star Wars: Ahsoka is a live-action series created by Dave Filoni and featuring characters from Filoni’s beloved animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. When we last left the show, Ahsoka had finally reunited with Sabine and Ezra on the far-flung planet of Peridea. Baylon Skoll had dropped his power-hungry apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) to pursue some mysterious legend he heard at the Jedi Temple. Grand Admiral Thrawn was close to leaving Peridea with a starship full of some sort of important cargo.

So what happens next? Does Ahsoka die? Do our heroes stop Thrawn? Here’s everything you need to know about the end of Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1…

Star Wars: Ahsoka Ending Explained: What Happens in the Ahsoka Season 1 Finale?

Our heroes finally manage to make it to Thrawn’s location just as his Star Destroyer is linked up with the Eye of Sion. Ezra Bridger now has a nifty new blue lightsaber for the battle ahead, while the Great Mothers have “rewarded” Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) by transforming her into a witch, complete with a fancy sword called the Blade of Talzin.

Note: The Blade of Talzin is a cool nod to Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Mother Talzin, a Dathomiri Nightsister who happened to be Darth Maul’s mom! The more you know!

Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra find themselves fighting their way through Thrawn’s base with relative ease. Only because they took down a group of Night Troopers who willingly sacrifice themselves so the Great Mothers can turn them into zombies via majik. When the Jedi make their way to safety, putting Thrawn’s exit into jeopardy, Morgan Elsbeth is asked to provide them with more time. She does so, not for the Empire, but for her homeworld of Dathomir. Ahsoka tells Sabine and Ezra to leave Elsbeth to her; they must stop Thrawn.

While Ahsoka takes on Morgan Elsbeth and fancy sword, Ezra and Ahsoka run into zombie Night Trooper, whom they defeat, only to arrive too late to board Thrawn’s ship. Sabine uses her previously untapped Force abilities to help Ezra make the impossible jump aboard. Sabine sees Ahsoka struggling in her fight against Morgan Elsbeth and decides to stay to help. Sabine takes on the Night Troopers while Ahsoka finishes Morgan Elsbeth. The Great Mothers sense her death and tell Thrawn, who simply says, “She has done what was required.”

Ahsoka and Sabine then leap onto the newly repaired (by Huyang and Noti) shuttle, which they then race in pursuit of Thrawn. Thrawn opens a channel to taunt Ahsoka about being Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice and to declare that victory is his before jumping away, leaving the Jedi stranded in the Purrgil graveyard. They return to their Noti friends on the surface of Peridea. Ahsoka then sees the Morai, the Force-sensitive owl that is her emblem.

Meanwhile, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) comes upon the bandits and raises her blood orange saber. Elsewhere, Baylan Skoll finds himself on a Lord of the Rings-esque statue, surveying the fairy tale landscape. Grand Admiral Thrawn goes to Dathomir upon his return to the main Star Wars galaxy. An imperial shuttle arrives on Hera Syndulla’s (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) ship and a single Trooper walks off. Chopper is the first one to recognize this is Ezra Bridger. He simply says, “Hi, Hera, I’m home.”

Back on Peridea, Ahsoka gives Sabine a pep talk about how well she did getting Ezra home. She adds that everyone wound up where they’re supposed to be and that it’s time to move on. Sabine surveys the landscape and feels something, but she writes it off. “Just shadows in the starlight.” Ahsoka then looks and nods. As she turned around, we see the Force ghost of Anakin Skywalker watching over them.

What is the Owl that Ahsoka Sees in the Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 Finale?

The owl that Ahsoka sees is called a Morai. She first encountered the creature in an arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars that saw her, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker travel to a mysterious world called Mortis, where they encountered three living embodiments of the Force: the Father, the Son, and the Daughter. The Daughter sacrifices herself to save Ahsoka, and in the process transfers her totem, the Morai, to the young Jedi as a protective spirit.

The Morai usually shows up in pivotal Ahsoka moments in the animated series. Seeing it in the Star Wars: Ahsoka finale is a sign to Ahsoka that she is protected and on the right path.

Is There an End Credits Scene in the Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1 Finale?

Nope! It just ends kind of abruptly with Thrawn and his zombie troops arriving at Dathomir and our heroes once again scattered across the universe. This time it’s Ahsoka and Sabine who are lost. But on the plus side, Ezra knows where they are. So that’s something.

Will There Be an Ahsoka Season 2? How Does the Star Wars: Ahsoka Finale Set Up the Next Star Wars Movie?

We don’t know yet if Disney+ will make Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2, but that doesn’t mean that this is the end of the story. During Star Wars Celebration this year, it was announced that Dave Filoni is working on a Star Wars movie set during the New Republic Era that will wrap up the stories being told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: Ahsoka.

So the bad news is Disney+ might not make more Ahsoka. The good news is that could be because they are instead making a movie where Baby Yoda travels to Peridea to hang out with the Noti.
