‘The Sopranos’ Theme Writer Explains Why He’s Never Watched The Show
Jaws everywhere hit the ground when Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jennifer Fessler admitted to sleeping with James Gandolfini back in the day. However, his fellow Sopranos co-star Jamie-Lynn Sigler felt the reality star should have refrained from revealing such personal information about the late actor.
On Monday night’s (Sept. 25) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Sigler took part in a Q&A where a set of virtual fans asked for her reaction to Fessler’s NSFW confession. According to the actress — who played Tony Soprano’s (Gandolfini) daughter, Meadow Soprano, through all six seasons of the show — she was feeling “a bit protective” of her onscreen dad.
“Of his wife?” host Andy Cohen asked, to which Sigler replied, “Yeah. Of him. He’s no longer here. It just felt like information that wasn’t needed to be shared.”
She added, “I get that it’s like a claim to fame and like a cool thing to say, but maybe not on TV.”
On an April 2023 episode from RHONJ Season 13, Fessler — a “friend” on the series — told her co-stars that she once worked as a talent agent. During her time in the field, she allegedly sparked a short-lived romance with a pre-Sopranos Gandolfini, and spilled the dirty details of their rendezvous.
“I met James Gandolfini before The Sopranos. I was obsessed,” she told the cameras in her confessional. “He actually took me to an S&M bar. It was crazy. And we hung out and we drank and we went back to his apartment and we fucked.”
She continued, “He was so the one that got away. But it was also the one that was never really there. But he absolutely was inside me. That is a fact. More than once.”
