The new Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians released its first full trailer yesterday (Sept. 19), and already has fans planning their return trips to Camp Half-Blood on Dec. 20.

Rick Riordan‘s characters come to life in the new trailer, which follows 12-year-old Percy (Walker Scobell), who is dealing with “some stuff that’s maybe not so normal.”

He eventually learns that he is a demigod, or a “half-blood.”

“The stories I told you about Greek gods and half-bloods, they’re real,” Percy’s mother Sally (Virginia Kull reveals, as his friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri) arrives.

“Grover, why is there a half a goat in your pants?” Percy asks, discovering that his friend is in fact a satyr.

After Zeus (the late Lance Reddick), the sky god, accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt, Percy embarks on a mythical quest to retrieve it, along with the help of his friends Grover and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries).

The trailer also features Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds/Alecto, Glynn Turman as Chiron/Mr. Brunner, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon. Other stars in the series include Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes) and Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus/ Mr. D).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first season of the upcoming series will feature eight episodes telling the story captured in the first novel of Riordan’s series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

Riordan worked closely with the series showrunners as an executive producer and is credited with writing the first two episodes alongside Jon Steinberg, per an Aug. 18 press release.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians hits Disney+ with its first two episodes on Dec. 20. Watch the trailer above.
