How I Met Your Father has been canceled by Hulu after just two seasons.

The How I Met Your Mother spinoff series, starring Hilary Duff as Sophie, won’t be returning for Season 3 according to Deadline.

Narrated by Kim Cattrall (present day Sophie), the show also stars Chris Lowell (as Sophie’s son Jesse), Francia Raisa (as Valentina), Tom Ainsley (as Charlie), Tien Tran (as Ellen) and Suraj Sharma (as Sid).

In similar format to HIMYM, the show was a retelling of Sophie’s journey with her friends in their 20s, up until the point where she met Jesse’s dad.

The series was written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. It was executive produced by HIMYM creators/exec producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas along with the original show’s director/exec producer Pam Fryman. Adam Londy also executive produced and Duff served as a producer.

Throughout its two seasons, both Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders made cameos as their respective HIMYM personas, Barney Stinson and Robin Scherbatsky.

How I Met Your Father aired its now final episode in July, and never did reveal the father of Sophie’s son.

Hulu also just recently canceled its popular comedy series The Great after three seasons.
