Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been a celebrity power couple since they tied the knot in 1996. Other than dominating both the music and TV realms through their work as country artists and co-starring in the Yellowstone spin-off 1883, the two support each other offstage and off-screen, as well — so much so that McGraw claims he “would’ve died already” if he had not married Hill.

McGraw spoke to Zane Lowe on the most recent episode of the Zane Lowe Interviews, which was released on Thursday (Aug. 24) about Hill’s tremendous support.

“I guarantee you, had I not gotten married to Faith at 29 years old, A. I probably would’ve ran my career into the ground and B. I would’ve died already with my career into the ground — one or the other, and it wouldn’t have ever been where it’s at now,” he explained.

The “Live Like You Were Dying” singer, who has previously struggled with alcoholism and got sober in 2008, discussed how once “the kids got old enough” and “could notice things,” Hill ultimately told him “you’ve got to figure things out.”

With respect to musical matters, McGraw, whose album Standing Room Only was released today, shared that he’s “always playing [Hill] the songs that [he] want[s] to record,” and takes her advice to heart.

“There’s times we don’t agree,” he noted, saying that “there’s times where she goes, ‘I don’t like the way that sounds” in regard to his work. Nonetheless, he still deemed her as”one of the greatest artists of all time.”

Hill has certainly expressed her love and gratitude for McGraw publicly as well, previously saying in an interview that she “was blessed enough to find this kind of love” with the actor and singer-songwriter.
