UPDATE (9/5/23): Prime Video and Apple TV have confirmed that Barbie will now hit streaming on September 12 instead of the previously announced September 5 date. Prime Video lists the release time as September 12 at 12:00 a.m. ET with a new purchase price of $30. The original article continues below.

You aren’t going to have to wait much longer to watch Barbie from the comfort of your own dreamhouse.

The billion dollar blockbuster is set to start streaming on video-on-demand (VOD) platforms on Sept. 5, just six weeks after hitting theaters.

You can currently pre-order Barbie on Prime Video, Apple TV, Microsoft Movies, Vudu, and other VOD sites, so you’ll be able to stream the movie as soon as it’s released.

It currently costs $25 to buy Barbie; it’s likely a rental option will be introduced in the future, but for now, you only have the option to buy the movie and own it digitally to watch and rewatch as many times as you’d like.

Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie stars Margot Robbie as the titular doll alongside Ryan Gosling as her Ken. It sees Robbie’s Barbie leave Barbieland for the real world following a crisis about her existence as Stereotypical Barbie. The supporting cast includes Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, and Michael Cera as Barbies, Ken, and Allan, respectively; America Ferrera and Will Ferrell appear in key human roles.

Since Barbie is a Warner Bros. film, it’ll head to Max (formerly known as HBO Max) eventually. Unfortunately, though, Warner Bros. has not confirmed a release date for Barbie on Max, and likely won’t while the movie is still playing in theaters.

We saw Evil Dead Rise, another WB film, hit Max 63 days after its initial theatrical release. The Flash, which hit theaters a month before Barbie, still doesn’t have a confirmed Max release date either and today marks 62 days since that release.

We’ll update this post with more information if and when WB confirms the Max release date for Barbie.
