Lizzo‘s Big Grrrl and Big Boiii dancers showed their support for the singer in a statement shared on Thursday (Aug. 17) after three of her former back-up dancers sued her for harassment and discrimination.

The statement from the dancers claimed they “had the time of our lives on The Special Tour” and felt “so honored to share the stage with such amazing talent.”

“THANK YOU to Lizzo for shattering limitations and kicking in the door way for the Big Grrrl & Big Boiii Dancers to do what we love!” the statement reads. “You have created a platform where we have been able to parallel our Passion with a purpose.”

The statement comes just weeks after news of the bombshell lawsuit made headlines.

In the lawsuit, three of Lizzo’s former dancers claimed they dealt with harassment, discrimination, and comments about their bodies at the hands of the singer and her dance captain, Shirlene Quigley. Two of the dancers were hired after they competed on her Prime Video competition series, Lizzo’s Watch out for the Big Grrrls, which they claimed in the lawsuit may have impacted how they were treated on tour.

Others have also come forward to share their own experiences working with the Grammy winning artist. Filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison claimed she “walked away” from directing a documentary of the singer because she was “arrogant, self-centered, and unkind.”

Among other things, the singer was accused of making “thinly veiled” comments about one of the dancers’ weight.

The same dancer also claimed she and other members of the crew were pressured to participate in a sex party with nude performers.

Lizzo said the claims in the suit were “too outrageous to not be addressed” as “there is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”

She wrote in a statement shared on social media, “I’m hurt but I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to life me up during this difficult time.”
