News of Netflix’s upcoming Scott Pilgrim anime has the internet going wild — and some may even be feeling nostalgic for the 2010 cult movie that first brought Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit graphic novel to the screen.
The new series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, will see the cast of the live-action film returning to their original characters, along with the movie’s director and co-writer Edgar Wright serving as the executive producer.
Netflix teases in the synopsis, “Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated.”
Lead actor Michael Cera is also looking forward to the final product, telling Decider in an interview prior to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, “Every time I’ve recorded it, I have to send Brian an email saying, ‘I love this so much. I’m so excited about it.'”
