Yellowjackets will be returning for Season 3 on Showtime and may finally address some of the most burning questions that fans have after watching the first two.

First debuting in 2022, the series stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis, along with Ella Purnell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Liv Hewson and others.

The plot centers on a high school girls soccer team whose plane crashes while traveling to an important match. Stuck in the middle of the woods, the girls must adapt to survive in the wilderness before being found.

The series pans back and forth to their adult versions who are still coping with the aftermath of everything that happened but fans have never seen what life was like for the Yellowjackets after they were found. That is, until now.

Director Karyn Kusama, while speaking on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, anticipated that the coming season will cover a portion of that period.

“I’ve been so excited by this. The concept of that immediate aftermath of re-entry into the world, to me, there’s a whole season worth of material there,” she said. “And the fact that this is such a long game that each of these characters is facing, in terms of reorienting themselves to whatever normalcy is supposed to be. I’m sure we’re going to learn that their normal is a lot different than our normal. There’s a lot that needs to be figured out between Season 2 and Season 3.”

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait quite some time to see Season 3 since production on Yellowjackets is currently in pause due to the writers and actors strikes. Until then, however, Seasons 1 & 2 are currently streaming on Showtime.
