Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer were both absent from The Today Show during Monday’s (July 24) broadcast.
The co-hosts were noticeably missing from the Third Hour, which they typically host alongside Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones. Instead, MSNBC and NBC News correspondent Savannah Sellers took their place to talk about workouts and pickle-flavored cocktails.
The pair have been absent since last week, when Roker briefly mentioned during last Monday’s (July 16) Third Hour segment that Dreyer and Melvin had taken some time off from the show. Melvin did make an appearance during Thursday’s (July 20) broadcast during a pre-recorded interview with Magic Johnson, in which he spoke to the former pro-athlete about becoming a partial owner of the Washington Commanders.
In the meantime, NBC correspondents such as Keir Simmons and Tom Llamas have been filling in for them during the Third Hour segment.
So, where are the sunny Today hosts? Here’s what we know.
Where is Craig Melvin on Today?
UPDATE: Melvin returned to the show on Tuesday’s (July 25) episode in which he explained he was away on vacation with his brothers.
“We went down last week, me, my younger brother, and my older brothers and all their kids went on vacation, beach, pool, beach, pool,” he said, per The Sun. “It was great, but it was like 95 degrees.”
According to Melvin’s social media, it looks like the daytime host is enjoying some time with his family.
Melvin has been largely silent on social media about what he’s been up to outside of the show. But his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, has been sharing videos of herself and the family away on vacation. According to The Sun, the family is vacationing at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Though Melvin hasn’t appeared in any of the media she’s shared from the trip, she recently tagged Melvin in a photo of their son, Delano, catching a football in the water on Tuesday (July 17).
Where is Dylan Dreyer on Today?
Dreyer appears to be on her own family vacation this week as well, but the family reportedly ran into a couple of speed bumps on their way out of Amsterdam.
The meteorologist announced the mishap in an Instagram post on Saturday (July 22). “Little did we know these would be the clothes for the whole trip because our luggage is lost in Amsterdam. We’re not in Amsterdam,” she captioned a picture of her family. “All that work packing…”
She even tagged the airlines her family flew in hopes of getting their lost luggage. “Who can find 7 pieces of our luggage that’s lost in Amsterdam first??? Ready….go!!” she wrote.
It is still unclear when the two hosts can be expected back on Today. But according to Sellers’ social media, she will once again host Today‘s Third Hour on Wednesday (July 26) and Thursday (July 27), so it looks like Today Show fans can expect some new faces at least for the rest of the week.
