After going “to hell and back,” Jamie Foxx took to Instagram on Saturday (July 22) to update his fans and to thank his family, friends, fans and medical staff for their support during his recovery in a new video. The star was hospitalized in April while filming Back in Action with Cameron Diaz, but little details were disclosed surrounding his diagnosis.

As noted by Foxx himself, fans often craft outlandish suspicions when they don’t have all the answers behind a story and “things get out of hand.” In his case, fans began alleging that the They Cloned Tyrone star was a clone or form of AI after seeing his appearance in the video. Foxx even directly responded to the speculation, proclaiming, “I’m not cloned, but I’m here on Earth because of some great people” and “because of God.”

Ice-T came to Foxx’s defense on Twitter yesterday (July 23), clapping back at the “weirdos” who believed that Foxx has transformed into a clone or AI, instead of understanding the gravity of his recent illness. The actor and rapper wrote that “people would rather believe that Jamie is now a Clone or Ai, than the man was just seriously sick and damn near died… Cause he doesn’t look EXACTLY the same??”

“YOU look different after a bad cold!,” he continued.

Fans supported Foxx on Ice-T’s retweet, with one commenting, “This is exactly the same dude, lol. People are wild” and another adding, “Yeah, he doesn’t look great, but who would after his ordeal? I’m glad he made it through and I hope he fully recovers.” Others resonated with Ice-T’s comments, as one fan wrote, “I get a cold and morph into a sasquatch with a bad hair day. I get your point.”

Foxx addressed other rumors about his health on Instagram, denying he was paralyzed or went blind. While he said he was grateful for the privacy his loved ones granted him by not sharing any information surrounding his medical complication, he told his fans that he didn’t want them to see him in such a terrible state.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show,” he explained, as opposed to seeing him “with tubes running out of [him].”

They Cloned Tyrone is available to stream on Netflix.
