When Does ‘Hard Knocks’ 2023 Premiere On HBO?

After the high-profile acquisition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, all eyes are going to be on the New York Jets when the team reports to training camp on Wednesday, July 19. But the pressure is about to intensify because, like or not, the Jets are the latest team to be featured on HBO’s popular docuseries Hard Knocks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news, with the NFL and NFL Films selecting the buzzy New York squad out of the four eligible teams (the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Commanders were the other three). The news may come as a bit of a shock for Jets fans considering head coach Robert Saleh had previously stated that he didn’t want his team featured on the long-running series.

“I haven’t gotten word or anything like that.” Saleh said, per ESPN. “I know [there are] several teams that would love for Hard Knocks to be in their building, but we’re just not one of them.”

Is Hard Knocks On Max?

There are currently two seasons of Hard Knocks on Max: The 2022 Detroit Lions and the 2022 In-Season version of the series centering on the Arizona Cardinals.

When Will Hard Knocks Be On HBO?

*** UPDATE (7/17/23): The five-episode season of Hard Knocks debuts Tuesday, August 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO and Max. ***

No official release date has been announced, but based on recent history we have a pretty good idea of when to expect new episodes.

The last three seasons of the original series (2020, 2021, and 2022) debuted in the second week of August, with last year’s season premiere airing on August 9, 2022. All three seasons consisted of five episodes. Based on the above info, we expect Hard Knocks 2023 to premiere Tuesday, August 8, 2023, on HBO and Max.

If this season follows the previous three installments, the season finale would air Tuesday, September 5, two days before the first Thursday Night Football game of the season.
