Donald Faison‘s appearance on The Wonder Years had a special meaning for series star Dulé Hill. While stopping by The View today to promote the second season of his sitcom, Hill revealed that he and Faison made a promise to one another to chase their dreams years ago — and sharing the screen on his series was only more proof that they’d made it.
Hill, who plays Bill Williams on The Wonder Years, was thrilled to welcome Faison on the show to play real estate agent Terrence, telling The View it was “a joy” to work with his friend again.
“I’ve known Donald for a very long time. We were teenagers here in New York, auditioning, hanging out,” he said. “Then we did a movie called Sugar Hill with Wesley Snipes.”
Faison played Kymie Damiels in the 1993 crime drama, while Hill played a younger version of Roemello Skuggs, Snipes’ character.
Hill said the film marked a key moment in both his and Faison’s careers, telling The View, “I’ll never forget, we were on a rooftop in Harlem watching Wesley and Michael Wright shoot this scene, and me and Donald were just in awe of what they were doing, and he said, ‘Dulé, we’ve gotta make a commitment: We’re gonna do this thing. We’re gonna reach for our dreams, we’re gonna run this race, no matter how long it takes, we’re gonna do it.’ And we made a pact to each other.
“So years later now, after he had Scrubs and I’ve had Psych and West Wing and everything, to be able to now be on the screen together is an absolute dream,” he continued. “Full circle moment, for real.”

Faison is joining the second season of The Wonder Years reboot along with plenty of other impressive guest stars, including Wayne Brady, Tituss Burgess, Phoebe Robinson and Patti LaBelle.
Bradley Whitford is also joining the show, marking another reunion for Hill, who starred alongside Whitford on The West Wing.
The Wonder Years airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC and also streams on Hulu. The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
