Freeform‘s teen drama anthology series Cruel Summer is back with Season 2, delivering us a new story about an intense friendship two teenage girls share in the 2000s.

Sadie Stanley stars as Megan Landry, a teenager whose family takes in exchange student Isabella LaRue, played by Lexi Underwood.

LaRue is set to stay with the Landry family for a whole year until the girls find themselves in the midst of a mysterious murder that hits close to home. As the police investigation uncovers more about the murder, it becomes increasingly clear that the girls are hiding more from each other than they want to admit.

Cruel Summer Season 2 takes place in the fictional town of Chatham, Washington. But where did filming actually take place? Here’s everything we know.

Where was Cruel Summer Season 2 filmed?

Cruel Summer Season 2 was filmed in Richmond, British Columbia. According to local news outlets, production began March 8, 2022 and lasted through June 29, 2022.

The Freeform show used multiple British Columbia locations, including Sunset Marina and the Sea To Sky Highway. Pictures from the set also showed the Clova Theater in Cloverdale, advertising a 4:30 showing of Girl, Interrupted.

The city has been home to many productions before, including Supernatural and Once Upon A Time.

Cruel Summer Season 1, which premiered in 2021, is now streaming in full on Hulu, and is also available to watch on Amazon’s Prime Video.

The first two episodes of the second season of the teen drama premiered June 5 and are currently available to stream on Hulu or on the Freeform website with a valid cable login. New episodes of Cruel Summer Season 2 premiere Mondays at 10/9c on Freeform.
