If you thought Selling Sunset Season 6 was going to be boring because of its lack of Christine Quinn, think again. Even with two new realtors vying for the villain role, it turns out that there’s more than enough drama to go around. Sure, Christine pulled a lot of stunts in her five seasons as the show’s primary antagonist, but she never accused another cast member of being “cracked out.” That honor goes to Chrishell Stause in one of the most heated throwdowns in all of Selling Sunset history. SPOILERS ahead.

In Episode 7 of Season 6, appropriately titled “If You Can’t Stand the Heat…” because of the fiery argument and because it’s set in Palm Springs, a season of simmering tension between Chrishell and new cast member (but longtime Oppenheim realtor) Nicole Young comes to a head in the most dramatic way imaginable. It starts comparatively simply. The cast is having a peaceful outdoor dinner in Palm Springs, almost playfully reminiscing about their squashed beefs. Emma Hernan, in a bit of stealth shit-stirring, brings up the fact that Nicole had said that Jason Oppenheim (their boss) is happier in his current relationship than he was with Chrishell. She brings up that Nicole made this sentiment very public when she commented on Jason’s new GF’s Facebook, calling her “the future Mrs. Oppenheim.” For a hot second there’s even a convivial vibe amongst these coworkers as Chelsea playfully tries to get Nicole to admit that that was a little dig on Chrishell. No one is shouting, no one is livid, and no one is crying. At worst, Chrishell looks exasperated and Nicole looks annoyed.

And then Nicole has to double down and insinuate that Chrishell was a controlling girlfriend who made Jason not take work calls after hours, which is a new accusation for Chrishell and pushes her from baffled to pissed off. And Nicole being Nicole, she has to react hostilely to everything Chrishell says. Nicole does this thing where she acts completely surprised that Chrishell is angry about accusations that she was only getting listings because Jason had the hots for her. Nicole, in one of the dumbest moves, then says that Chrishell should be grateful that she doesn’t say the one thing that would really ruin her professional reputation (that one thing: TBA).

I do need to point out that in the midst of this escalating, petty altercation, the funniest moment of the season happens: Nicole complains about Chrishell venting about Nicole on Instagram, and Chrishell says, “I didn’t even tag you! I should have.” Nicole calls the bluff and says, “You should have,” to which Chrishell, under the noise of others interjecting, mutters to herself like she’s on The Office, “No, it’d give you more followers.”

But anyway — the crackhead thing. Nicole implying that she has some sort of bombshell that she’s sitting on that will devastate Chrishell and ruin her career is apparently the excuse Chrishell needs to go there. Nicole says she wants to move on, accompanied by a little swirly hand motion, and Chrishell says, “I’m sure you would because you don’t have points and you’re on drugs.”

The reactions from the other people at the table say it all.

Chrishell then specifies that she thinks Nicole has “been acting a little cracked out all night.” That is definitely too far over the line, so much so that Mary — the one who is ostensibly in charge — short circuits.

In her defense, Mary does eventually say — as Nicole is storming off — “Nicole, you are not a crackhead and I’m clarifying that to everyone! You are not a crackhead and nor has she ever been.” Nice save, Mary. With Nicole gone, Chrishell finally provides some context for the out-of-nowhere accusation, saying that the first time she met Nicole was at Mary’s bachelorette party where — according to Chrishell — Nicole ended up doing “all these drugs and going crazy on everybody.”

If you are like me and have been watching these women adamantly refuse to find a new place to work for the past 4+ years, then you’re probably wondering, “Wait — didn’t we see Mary’s bachelorette party?” The answer is: yes, we did!

Rewind all the way back to four seasons prior, Season 2, Episode 7 (“That’s Why They Call It Real Estress”), and you will see Mary’s bachelorette party unfold. It’s actually tamer than the picture Chrishell paints, at least the part we see on TV. The girls all drink from penis straws and go to a club where some of them get into a fight because being on this kind of reality show means that you have to manufacture a fight everywhere you go. Still, Nicole is there! She’s introduced, with a lower third and everything that identifies her as “Mary’s friend.”

Nicole is there when the party moves to a burlesque bar in Los Angeles named Pour Vous, although she doesn’t do anything aside from sit and drink. There is no visual indication that Nicole is doing anything other than getting as drunk as literally everyone else (except Maya, who was pregnant). The most scandalous thing that we see happen all night takes place before they get to Pour Vous when Mary does a shot from Nicole’s boobs.

Selling Sunset - Mary's bachelorette party

So, was Nicole on drugs at Mary’s bachelorette party? Not from what we see in the edited episode. We don’t see the whole bachelorette party, so we also don’t have any evidence of Nicole “going crazy on everybody” as Chrishell accuses. Granted, Nicole could do that while being stone-cold sober, so footage of her losing it at the bachelorette party would prove nothing that we don’t already know from watching Season 6.

But since so much of these realtors’ lives have been documented, you have to wonder if there is more footage from the bachelorette party. If there is, would Selling Sunset intercut footage that either disproves or proves Chrishell’s claim? This actually did happen earlier in the season during a previous Nicole vs. Chrishell fight to prove that Chrishell called Nicole a “bitch” and not a “fucking bitch” as Nicole was asserting. However, the show would be crossing a line and entering into lawsuit territory if they had footage of Nicole doing anything illegal — and I am not saying or even implying that they do! — and the editors chose to insert that footage into a Netflix program. Nicole threatens to sue Chrishell for defamation of character just over the allegation of drug use, so imagine what she’d do to Netflix!

Honestly, it would probably take Nicole suing Chrishell for alleging that she is on drugs for us to actually learn what footage Netflix does and does not have from that night — and to be clear, this would be a poor use of everyone involved’s time and energy. But y’know what? It would certainly make for an incredibly meta and stressful Season 7. Considering that Nicole’s primary beef with Chrishell centers on one listing from three years ago, this potential defamation lawsuit could make for an incredibly meta and stressful Season 10. We’ll just have to wait and see…
