The Great has built a devoted cult following over the last three seasons. But with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult leading the show, who wouldn’t be obsessed?

Fanning and Hoult star as Russia’s Catherine the Great and Peter III in this historically inaccurate dramedy. The show features their toxic push-and-pull as they preside over Russia and guide it towards the age of Enlightenment.

As Decider’s Radhika Menon put it in our review of The Great Season 3, the show closely resembles the style of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and not just because of the stunning sets they get to film on.

So, where do they film The Great? We’ve got answers. Read on to learn more.

Where Is The Great Filmed?

Fanning announced that production wrapped in a social media post she shared in December, showing images from Campania, Italy where they film at the Royal Palace of Caserta. Production has filmed multiple times over the years in Caserta, including multiple outdoor scenes that were filmed in the castle’s famous gardens.

In Season 3, they also filmed in the palace’s Court Theater.

According to IMDB, the rest of filming typically takes place across England. The Great has also filmed at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire and Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, amongst other locations.

The conference scene in Season 3, Episode 3 was filmed at the Old Royal Naval College in London. Parts of Episode 7 were filmed at the University College School Hampstead in Hampstead, London.

Now that they’ve wrapped up The Great Season 3, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever get to see that stunning castle and our problematic faves again in Season 4.

The Great Season 3 is now streaming on Hulu.
