Two co-hosts were noticeably missing from Tuesday’s (May 9) Today Show broadcast.

NBC meteorologist Bill Karins filled in for Third Hour co-host Al Roker, who is currently undergoing another knee replacement surgery. Roker shared during Monday’s broadcast that he will be absent “for a little while to take care of the knee.”

It is unclear when he will be returning to the show.

“Al’s very excited to get that knee in and to get his steps back going again and get everyone going with him,” Karins said.

Roker shared a video on Instagram of him getting “one more walk in” this weekend in Central Park before his knee replacement surgery. “This is my last walk of any significance before the knee [surgery],” he said in the video, after admitting he was “limping through” it. “But it was just such a gorgeous day I had to get out and enjoy it.”

After sharing the news about Roker’s surgery, Savannah Guthrie also announced co-host and meteorologist Dylan Dreyer is away “on-assignment” as well.

Though the nature of Dreyer’s assignment was not specified, she did share a photo on Instagram of herself on an airplane with her best friend, captioned, “Bring your best friend to work day! Had the best time… sharing a quick getaway for @todayshow Stay tuned!”

Dreyer recently announced she will be returning as host on the NBC travel show Earth Odyssey, which is set to return with new episodes this June. The host shared photos of herself with a binturong and a giraffe to announce the news.

For now, it is unclear when Roker and Dreyer will be returning to The Today Show.

The Today Show airs on weekdays at 7 a.m. ET on NBC.
