Peter Pan & Wendy is now streaming on Disney+, which means you can now take a quick trip to Neverland without ever leaving the comfort of your couch.

Directed by The Green Knight‘s David Lowery, with a script written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks, Peter Pan & Wendy is both a remake of the 1953 animated Disney film Peter Pan, and a retelling of the original 1904 play by  J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.

Ever Anderson stars as Wendy Darling, a preteen girl from London who doesn’t want to leave home and go to boarding school. She finds her wish to never grow up granted when she receives a visit from the mythical Peter Pan (played by the very charming Alexander Molony). Wendy and her two younger brothers are whisked away to the magical realm known as Neverland—a gorgeous, lush, green island where kids can run free.

But where, exactly, is Neverland?

Read on to learn about the Peter Pan & Wendy filming locations.

Where was Peter Pan and Wendy filmed?

Peter Pan and Wendy was filmed in Canada, primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as on the Bonavista Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador.

We hate to ruin the magic, but quite a bit of Peter Pan and Wendy was filmed on a soundstage in Vancouver, using green screens, rather than on location in the great outdoors. That said, the production did build a full-size pirate ship that weighed 135,000 pounds, according a report by Entertainment Tonight.

But there was some on-location filming to capture the exterior beauty of Neverland, namely in the northern Canadian province of Newfoundland. Specific Newfoundland areas include include Trinity, the Cape Shore, and Bonavista, according to a CBC interview with Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation executive director Dorian Rowe.

It wasn’t an easy shoot. The filming lasted five months from March to August 2021, after being delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The production went back for reshoots in Vancouver in February 2022.

So there you have it! Peter Pan & Wendy might not have had pixie dust on set, but they still sprinkled some movie magic on the production to bring Neverland to life.
