Christina Ricci recently opened up about how much she admires her younger Yellowjackets costars for their ability to set boundaries and stand up for themselves on set. In an appearance on Wednesday’s (March 15) episode of The View, the actress explained that such agency is starkly different from what she and her contemporaries had to go through as they came up in the industry.

“It’s amazing to see that they don’t necessarily have to go through the things we had to go through,” Ricci told the Hot Topics panel. The actress began acting as a child in projects like Casper and The Addams Family, where she honed her knack for horror and drama that has carried on throughout her career.

“They can set boundaries for themselves that we were never allowed to do,” she continued, referring to younger stars working today. “Someone threatened to sue me once because I didn’t want to do this sex scene in a certain way. It’s really changed and it’s great to see.”

Ricci, who did not share who threatened her or what project she had been working on at the time, appeared on The View to talk Yellowjackets Season 2. The series follows a high school girls soccer team that gets stranded in the woods after a plane crash in the ‘90s. While revealing what happened in those woods as they fought to survive, it also shows how those events continue to haunt their lives as adults.

Ricci stars as the adult Misty Quigley, who has grown up to be a nurse with a dark side, while actress Sammi Hanratty plays her as a teenager. Hanratty is joined by other up-and-coming actresses such as Scream VI’s Jasmin Savoy Brown, plus Sophie Thatcher.

“It’s really great. Us older ladies talk about it all the time… They’re able to say, ‘I don’t want to do this sex scene,’ ‘I’m not going to be naked,’” Ricci told The View

The “older ladies” she’s referring to include Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey and Tawny Cypress, who all play grown-up versions of the teen girls.

Yellowjackets Season 1 was nominated for seven Emmy Awards, including two acting nominations for Ricci and Lynskey.

Yellowjackets Season 2 returns to Showtime on March 24. The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
