Get ready, Everything Everywhere All At Once fans! Some of the star-studded cast of the Oscar-nominated film will be teaming up for the new Disney+ series, American Born Chinese. In a teaser that will be released during tonight’s Academy Awards broadcast, we see Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu reunite for the upcoming show, which is set to release this spring.

Based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name, American Born Chinese follows Jin Wang, a teenager juggling his home life and his social life — that is, until he befriends a new student and becomes “unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods,” per the logline.

At the start of the 30-second trailer, we hear, “Dark forces will be coming.” More ominous narrations continue as they reveal, “A gate between earth and heaven is opening,” and, “The fate of your world hangs in the balance,” before an action-packed montage engulfs the remainder of the clip.

The coming-of-age series, which hails from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, stars Yeoh and Quan — who are nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Academy Awards for their work on Everything Everywhere All At Once, which also nabbed a Best Picture nomination. Hsu — who is up for Best Supporting Actress — is also set to guest star on the series.

The show further features Ben Wang (Chang Can Dunk), Yeo Yann Yann — a two-time International Emmy Award nominee —  Chin Han (Mortal Kombat), Daniel Wu (Reminiscence), former Taekwondo champion Jimmy Liu, and Sydney Taylor.

American Born Chinese is set to release on May 24 on Disney+. Check out the full teaser above.
