The official pilot description reads, “A night of passion leads to love between con-man Charlie and undercover CIA officer Emma, who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally.” We have a feeling that things between these two are about to get super steamy and incredibly complicated.

In The Company You Keep‘s trailer, we see Emma and Charlie sitting beside each other at a bar. After Emma orders a vodka martini (extra dirty) she says to Charlie, “Relationships. What a racket,” and the two chase rounds of shots with surprisingly deep small talk.

When it comes time to share their jobs, Charlie says he’s a yoga instructor and Emma says she’s a pageant queen-turned-rocket scientist. And when Emma says, “Now tell me something true,” Charlie reveals, “I’m a criminal.” She responds,”I’m CIA.” And the two burst out laughing. Llittle do they know…

Charlie seems too good to be true, and Emma investigates for a living, so she asks him about his job again. He tells her he’s a classical musician this time, and though she definitely doesn’t believe him, she does kiss him. As Charlie says, “She’s beautiful, funny, and there’s no way she’s stick around if she knew the truth.” Is he right? We’ll have to wait and see.

As noted, Emma on The Company You Keep is played by Catherine Haena Kim, a 38-year-old Korean-American actor and model born in Queens, New York. Per her IMDb page, she kickstarted her career in 2007 on Guiding Light and has since appeared in a number of popular TV shows and movies including Gossip Girl, 90210, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Hawaii Five-O, Mistresses, 9-1-1, Magnum P.I., Ballers, Boyfriends of Christmas Past, and more.

Kim’s Hallmark Channel bio reveals that “She is a proud daughter of immigrant parents who left their office jobs in Korea to sell umbrellas in Time Square to give Kim and her brother the American dream.” She also graduated from the University of Virginia, worked as a VJ for MTV K (the Korean MTV channel), and she was Miss Virginia United States in 2006, which makes her character’s “pageant queen” line even funnier.
