Additional details have not yet been made public; however, tributes are already pouring in for the late performer.

Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted, “@TheRealSonyaEd was my friend & I am heart-broken by this news. Nothing lately feels real. Nothing. What is going on?!”

Broadway World editor Cara Joy David wrote on Twitter, “One of the true joys of this year of #GeneralHospital was seeing her onscreen representing middle aged women going after their dreams. Nothing like it had been done in a soap I’ve watched—and she handled the character’s doubt and commitment so well. May her memory be a blessing.”

Eddy’s Frank and Penelope co-star Charley Koontz said, “Terrible. We just worked together last year! She was such a joy to be around!”

In addition to portraying Epiphany Johnson in the long-running soap opera, Eddy also starred in Fresh Off the Boat, Burning Hollywood and ER since making her acting debut on The Drew Carey Show in 1995.

The actor went on to reprise her General Hospital role in the spin-off series General Hospital: Night Shift.

Most recently, Eddy starred in The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Frank and Penelope, V/H/S/99 and Satanic Hispanics.
