Stage Crasher Arrested After Interrupting The Game Awards 2022 With A Bizarre Bill Clinton Shout-Out

There was a rude surprise at last night’s The Game Awards when an individual crashed the stage during Elden Ring’s acceptance speech after winning Game of the Year.

Founded in 2014 by Geoff Keighley (who also hosts), the award show aims to recognize “creative and technical excellence in the global video game industry.” This year’s ceremony was streamed live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and Steam.

However, the event had a hiccup while presenting its most esteemed award.

A stage crasher snuck on stage with members of Elden Ring’s development team, including director Hidetaka Miyazaki, as they walked up to accept their award for Game of the Year. The individual stood in the background during the group’s acceptance speech before stepping up to the microphone.

Rather than using his brief moment of fame to say anything meaningful or a witty joke, he delivered a bizarre comment about former president Bill Clinton. “Hey, my turn. You know, real quick, I want to thank everybody and say I think I want to nominate this award to my reformed orthodox rabbi, Bill Clinton. Thank you, everybody,” he said as exit music played in the background.

In the moment, the Elden Ring team appeared visibly confused and the mystery man was escorted off stage by security after making his comments. As that was the last award of the night, Keighley took to the stage to congratulate the winners and bid farewell.

Following the broadcast, the host tweeted, “The individual who interrupted our Game of the Year moment has been arrested.”

Many felt both shocked and underwhelmed by the crasher. One wrote, “If you’re gonna go to jail for storming The Game Awards you should at least say something cool, like ‘where’s Silksong’.”

Another joked, “Fromsoft winning a Game of the Year award only to be interrupted by a strange and sinister child saying cryptic things nobody understands is accidentally kind of on brand.”

Others are saying that the crasher’s speech was an “anti-semitic dog whistle” with many alleging that he was previously featured on the far-right conspiracy outlet InfoWars.

No further updates have been released about the individual. However, Keighley shared that this year’s broadcast reached “new viewership peaks on YouTube and Twitch” and is trending globally on YouTube.
