Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren Star in Gritty First Teaser for ‘1923’

Yellowstone fans are gearing up to meet a new generation of the Dutton family. Following Sunday night’s (Nov. 13) Season 5 premiere of the hit show, Paramount+ released a teaser for 1923, where fans got their first glimpse of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as the new family leaders.

As the second prequel to the series following 1883which honed in on the Dutton family’s journey through the Wild West in search of a better life and starred real-life couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, 1923 will focus on the family as they deal with pandemics, the Great Depression, droughts, and the end of Prohibition, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Ford, who is best known for his work on Star Wars and Indiana Jones, is set to star as family patriarch Jacob Dutton, who he previously called the “silverback” of the Dutton family in an interview with Vanity Fair. Alongside him, Academy Award-winning actress Mirren will play Cara Dutton, Jacob’s wife and family matriarch who appears to have no problem holding her own as we see her wielding a shotgun in the trailer.

“Violence has always haunted this family,” she says in a voiceover in the gritty 30-second teaser. “It followed us from the Scottish highlands, the slums of Dublin, and it followed us here. And where it doesn’t follow, we hunt it down. We seek it.”

Taylor Sheridan’s third Yellowstone series is set to have two seasons, each containing eight episodes. It will also feature Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry), and Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones).

1923 will begin streaming on Dec. 18 on Paramount+. Check out the teaser above.
