Is ‘Black Adam’ Streaming on HBO Max or Netflix?

While some of us are busy holding out for Dwayne Johnson to run for president, others are gearing up for the release of his new superhero movie, Black Adam.

The actor will star in the movie based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It follows antihero Black Adam, who was imprisoned for 5,000 years, as he’s unleashed into the modern world. Described in the trailer as a “loose cannon,” Black Adam attracts the attention of modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society of America as they teach him to be more of a hero than a villain.

Luckily for DC fans, who have suffered through several delays of Black Adam, the wait is almost over. Here’s everything we know about how, where, and when you can watch Johnson’s new flick:

WHERE TO WATCH DWAYNE JOHNSON IN BLACK ADAM:

As of now, the only place to watch Black Adam is to go to a movie theater when it drops on Friday, Oct. 21. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Other than that, you will have to wait for Black Adam to become available to purchase on digital platforms or stream on HBO Max.

WHEN WILL BLACK ADAM BE STREAMING ON HBO MAX?

UPDATE: Black Adam is currently available to purchase for $24.99 or rent for 48 hours for $19.99 on digital platforms like Prime Video, Apple, and Vudu, just in time for Thanksgiving!

Since Black Adam is a Warner Bros. Discovery movie, it will, indeed, join HBO Max. However, unlike last year when the company would drop their movies on the streaming platform the same day they were released in theaters, we are going to have to wait at least 45 days before we can watch from the comfort of our living rooms.

While there is no official streaming release date yet, Elvis, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters at the end of June and didn’t make its way to HBO Max until early September. If Black Adam follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we won’t be able to stream it until January 2023.

IS BLACK ADAM ON NETFLIX?

No, Black Adam is not on Netflix — and it likely won’t be any time soon seeing as it is going to stream on HBO Max. In the meantime, you’ll just have to head out to a theater or wait for it to become available on streaming and VOD.
