New Movies On Demand: ‘God’s Country,’ ‘Jeepers Creepers: Reborn,’ + More

This week’s new movies on VOD are a mixed bag of fun Halloween fare and more traditional films, so whatever your mood, we’ve got you covered. Thandiwe Newton takes a powerful stand against two men who trespass on her land in the IFC-produced God’s Country, while a cult-favorite horror franchise makes its return with Jeepers Creepers: Reborn.

And if you and the kids want to have some good old nostalgic fun, there’s Trick or Treat Scooby Doo! which is the latest installment in the animated Scooby gang’s mystery-solving franchise, but in case you haven’t heard, there are some updates to this version. Namely, our girl Velma finally gets to be her true self, as she explores her crush on reformed Scooby villain Coco Diablo. Trick or Treat Scooby Doo! is out now on VOD, but it will head over to HBO Max on October 14.

God’s Country

In the riveting new drama God’s Country, Thandiwe Newton stars as Sandra, a professor who moves to rural Montana after the death of her mother. When two local hunters continually trespass on her property, her complaints to the local sheriff are rebuffed, so she takes matters into her own hands. The animosity between Sandra and the hunters, Nathan (Joris Jarsky) and Samuel (Jefferson White), grows over the course of the movie until Sandra, tired of being ignored, marginalized, and disrespected, finally has enough.

Jeepers Creepers: Reborn

The Creeper is back to feed this year, and there’s no escape! Jeepers Creepers: Reborn is the fourth film in the Jeepers Creepers franchise, but it’s not a sequel so much as a, you know, rebirth of the franchise. In the original horror trilogy, Jonathan Breck played the titular Creeper, a demon who comes out of hiding every 23 years to kill and eat its victims for 23 days. In this new version, the Creeper is played by Jarreau Benjamin, and he’s terrorizing those attending a horror film festival in Louisiana. In a meta twist, it turns out the original Jeepers Creepers trilogy were just movies that the characters in this Jeepers timeline watched.
