Michael Keaton Reveals He’s Never Watched an Entire DC or Marvel Movie: “I Have Other Sh*t To Do!”

Michael Keaton may have some iconic credits in both the DC and Marvel universes, but to the surprise of many fans, he’s never seen an entire cut of any of those films.

The actor notoriously played Bruce Wayne/Batman in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns as well as Adrian Toomes/Vulture in the 2017 Marvel film Spider-Man: Homecoming. Despite being one of the few people to star in both franchises, he has never sat through the entirety of any DC or MCU movie, he explained to Variety.

“I know people don’t believe this, that I’ve never seen an entire version of any of those movies — any Marvel movie, any other,” Keaton said. “And I don’t say that I don’t watch that because I’m highbrow — trust me! It’s not that.”

In fact, there’s a much simpler explanation.

“It’s just that there’s very little things I watch,” he said. “I start watching something, and think it is great and I watch three episodes, but I have other shit to do!”

So what do we say: is this emergency in need of a Bat-Signal? Or do we accept that Michael Keaton is just a busy guy?

The shocker comes ahead of Keaton’s return to the Batman role in the upcoming DC film The Flash, where he will star alongside Ben Affleck. With it being 30 years since he’s put on the suit, Keaton said his return was merely out of curiosity.

“I was curious what it would be like after this many years,” he said. “Not so much me doing it — obviously, some of that — but I was just curious about it, weirdly, socially. This whole thing is gigantic. They have their entirely own world.”

The Flash will premiere in theaters on June 23, 2023.
