‘SNL’ Crew Teams Up For ‘Cheeky’ Body Humor Comedy Series At Peacock

Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant, writer Sudi Green, and executive producer Lorne Michaels are teaming up for a brand new comedy series at Peacock based on Ariella Elovic’s book Cheeky: A Head-To-Toe Memoir.

Written by Bryant, Green, and Elovic, the Cheeky series adaptation is produced by Universal Television and is a collection of comical first-person stories about the human body. Each episode focuses on a theme (Boobs, Sex, Body Hair, Coming of Age) and is animated in the same style as the illustrations in Elovic’s book.

Andrew Singer of Michael’s Broadway Video executive produces alongside Bryant, Green & Michaels. Elovic and Alice Mathias serve as co-executive producers. Willa Slaughter is also set to produce.

Bryant has been part of the main cast of Saturday Night Live for 10 years now. She has earned three Primetime Emmy nominations since her debut in 2012, including two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She more recently co-created, executive produced, and starred in Hulu’s Shrill, which landed her an additional nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for her performance in the show’s third and final season.

Bryant recently signed an overall deal with Universal Television, where she is currently in development on multiple projects. She has been involved in a few other projects as of late, including a voice role in Netflix’s animated series Human Resources as well as appearances in I Feel Pretty, The Big Sick, Broad City, and Girls.

New York City illustrator and author Elovic is most popular for founding @thecheekyblog [instagram.com], an online platform through which she combats body shaming in an enlightened but comical way. Her work has been featured by The New Yorker, Cosmopolitan, and Teen Vogue.

Green has won two WGA Awards and secured five Emmy nominations as a Supervising Writer on Saturday Night Live.

During her time writing for SNL over the last six seasons, Green also wrote for the NBC variety series Maya and Marty and also worked with Bryant on Shrill as supervising producer on all three seasons. She is currently a co-executive producer on Showtime’s upcoming series I Love This For You, starring Vanessa Bayer, with Annapurna and Michael Showalter’s Semi-Formal Productions.
