Twitter Is Nothing But Jeers As ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Wins Oscars Cheer-worthy Moment

Twitter never holds back on Oscar night, but one new feature introduced to spice up the 2022 Oscars really unleashed an avalanche of heckles from film lovers and comedians alike. And no, I’m not talking about the controversial decision to pre-tape many of the crafts awards. (Though people were mad about that, too.) A little over an hour into the broadcast, the Oscars unveiled the top five most “cheer-worthy” moments in movie history, as voted on by the public. The top spot wound up being a scene from none other than Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The most “cheer-worthy” moment in movie history is apparently the scene where Ezra Miller‘s Flash “Enters the Speed Force” in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a movie recut from another movie to run on HBO Max. Flash entering the Speed Force beat out the likes of Neo (Keanu Reeves) dodging bullets in The Matrix, the Avengers assembling at the end of Avengers: Endgame, and Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar-clenching performance of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”

Needless to say, Twitter was confused, with everyone from Desus & Mero EP Josh Gondelman to Jeopardy host Ken Jennings chiming in on the puzzling public vote, mocking the concept and the winning scene.

That said, not everyone was upset by the Flash’s win. Many DC fans, including those who are amped for the upcoming Flash movie, chimed in with their enthusiasm for the “Flash Enters the Speed Zone” moment getting what they saw was the props it deserved.

Did Zack Snyder’s Justice League deserve to win the honor of most “cheer-worthy” moment in cinematic history? Was Spider-Man: No Way Home robbed? Is online voting unusually susceptible to imperfect results thanks to the concentrated ardor of fan movements? Should art be treated like a competition in the first place?

These are all big questions and leave much to ponder. As for me, all I can think about is when the Flash entered the Speed Force.
