Is ‘Dog’ on HBO Max or Netflix? Where to Watch the Channing Tatum Movie

It’s never the wrong time to watch a cute dog movie, and actor Channing Tatum is delivering the adorable goods with his new feel-good comedy titled, quite simply, Dog.

Co-directed by Tatum himself, alongside Magic Mike writer Reid Carolin, Dog tells the story of a U.S. Army soldier named Briggs (Tatum) who is in charge of transporting a military working dog named Lulu across the country, in time for Lulu to attend her handler’s funeral. While Briggs and Lulu don’t get along at first, they soon form that special bond that can only come between a human and their dog.

It’s not going to win any Oscars, but it’s sure to make your heart swell and your mom to say “Awww!” Here’s what to know about how to watch the Channing Tatum Dog movie and when to expect Dog on streaming.

WHERE TO WATCH DOG MOVIE 2022:

Right now, the only place to watch Dog is in a movie theater. Dog will begin playing in theaters across the U.S. on Friday, February 18. You can find a showing near you here.

WHEN WILL THE CHANNING TATUM MOVIE DOG BE ON STREAMING?

A digital release date for Dog has not yet been announced, and it’s hard to predict when the film will become available to rent on demand.

Dog is an MGM/United Artists release, and unlike other movie studios during the pandemic, MGM has not had a consistent digital release strategy for its films. For example, House of Gucci released on digital platforms on February 1, after about 10 weeks in theaters. Other films like Licorice Pizza, still don’t have a digital release date.

Given that, our best guess is that Dog will stay in theaters exclusively for at least 45 days, a window many studios are now adhering to. By that timeline, you likely won’t be able to watch Dog at home until April 2022. Once the film does come to digital, you’ll be able to rent it on Amazon Prime, iTunes, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and more.

Keep in mind, this is all guesswork—take these estimates with a grain of salt.

WILL DOG 2022 BE ON HBO MAX?

No. Dog is not a Warner Bros. movie, and therefore will not be streaming on HBO Max when it opens in theaters. More than that, HBO Max will no longer be streaming theatrical movies in 2022. Last year, Warner Media opted to simultaneously release its theatrical slate on streaming, meaning HBO Max subscribers could watch movies like Matrix Resurrections at home. This year, however, Warner Bros. theatrical movies will have a 45-day theaters-only run before moving to HBO Max.

IS THE DOG MOVIE ON NETFLIX?

No. Dog is not on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon. If you can’t wait to see Channing Tatum cuddle with a canine, your best bet is to see Dog in theaters.
