‘Emily in Paris’ Renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 at Netflix

Mademoiselle Emily Cooper will return. Emily in Paris has been renewed for a third and fourth season, Netflix announced today. Thanks to Season 2’s fantastic first week performance, the controversial rom-com series will debut more episodes in the years to come — and thank goodness, because we were all waiting to see what comes of Emily’s (Lily Collins) love triangle. Her second one, that is.

Darren Star’s series follows Emily, an American marketing executive from Chicago with absolutely no French experience. Forced to move to Paris after her boss drops out, Emily must learn the ways of the Parisians to fit in at abroad marketing firm Savoir. In Season 2, Emily has learned the ropes a bit and impressed her boss — but she’s hiding a secret from her best friend, Camille (Camille Razat). On top of that, she’s got multiple suitors trying to woo her. Sacre bleu!

Although Emily in Paris has faced backlash online — namely from the culture minister of Ukraine and Chicago pizza joint Lou Malnatis — it still stands at a fresh 66 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. “For all the (often warranted) criticisms directed as Season 1, I will say that Season 2 improves upon a few things; there are less jabs at the French and more failures (and moments of self-deprecation) for the deeply naive Emily,” writes Decider’s Jade Budowski in her review of Season 2. “This makes the show much more interesting, too, as she’s not just parading around and saving the day at every turn without much effort.”

Collins leads the series alongside Razat, Lucas Bravo, Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Kate Walsh, Samuel Arnold, and Bruno Gouery. Collins also serves as a producer on the show.

Creator and showrunner Darren Star returned to helm the second season, which has topped the Netflix Top 10 list across 94 countries with over 100 million hours viewed in just its first week. The Emmy-nominated series debuted in 2020, and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, and Jax media. In addition to Star, additional executive producers include Tony Hernandez (JAX Media), Lilly Burns (JAX Media) and Andrew Fleming. Collins, Raphaël Benoliel, Stephen Brown, Shihan Fey and Jake Fuller are producers.
