‘Enchanted’ Sequel ‘Disenchanted’ to Premiere Fall 2022 on Disney+

Get ready to sing a happy working song. As part of Disney+ Day, the streamer announced that the long-awaited Enchanted sequel Disenchanted will premiere on Disney+ in fall 2022. And starting today, you can finally stream Enchanted there, too.

On Twitter, the streamer shared a short video of stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey announcing the news. “Today, we are here to tell you that fairytales do come true,” Adams said.

In the original 2007 film, animated princess-in-waiting Giselle (Adams) was magically transported to the cynical world of modern-day New York City and — spoiler warning — ultimately left her prince (James Marsden) to be with dreamy divorce lawyer Robert (Dempsey). But judging by the title of the sequel, life hasn’t been all sunshine and cartoon chipmunks for Giselle since the movie ended.

Marsden and Idina Menzel will reprise their roles as Prince Edward and Nancy, while Maya Rudolph will join Disenchanted as a new villain. Other new cast members include Kolton Stewart, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, and Oscar Nunez. Newcomer Gabriella Baldacchino will play Robert’s grown-up daughter Morgan.

While exact plot details about Disenchanted are being kept under wraps, the cast and crew have dropped a few enticing hints about the sequel so far. “There’s a lot more singing and a lot more dancing — which was humbling,” Adams said during a September appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In April, Dempsey also told Variety that he will finally sing in Disenchanted. “I’ve never ever sung publicly — for a reason,” he said. “So, bear with me.”
