Will There Be a ‘Halloween Kills’ Sequel? What We Know About ‘Halloween Ends’

The saga of Laurie Strode and Michael Meyers continues this weekend with Halloween Kills, the 12th entry in the slasher film franchise. Serving as a direct sequel to the 2018 film Halloween, this new movie once again brings back Jamie Lee Curtis—who starred in the original 1978 Halloween movie from John Carpenter—as Laurie, the woman on the run from the deranged killer known as Michael Meyers.

But as in the 2018 film, Laurie now has her family on her side, including her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak). And she also has the support of other former victims of Michael, including Tommy Doyle (played in this film by Anthony Michael Hall), one of the kids Laurie babysat in 1978.

It all comes to a head in a particularly brutal confrontation with Michael. We won’t spoil anything there, but the ending doesn’t exactly wrap up the story. Viewers are left wondering: Will there be a Halloween Kills sequel, and when does it come out?

WILL THERE BE A HALLOWEEN KILLS SEQUEL?

Yes! There is a plan for a sequel that will directly follow the events of Halloween Kills, titled Halloween Ends. It will be the third movie in the reboot/sequel Halloween franchise that began with the 2018 movie. This was announced by Universal back in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEN DOES HALLOWEEN ENDS COME OUT? HALLOWEEN ENDS RELEASE DATE:

Though the Halloween Ends release date has not yet been officially announced, it is likely you can expect Halloween Ends to release on October 14, 2022. According to a Deadline report, Universal has set aside October 14 for an “untitled Blumhouse movie,” which is in all likelihood, Halloween Ends.

IS HALLOWEEN ENDS THE LAST HALLOWEEN MOVIE?

The short answer is: We don’t know.

We do know that director David Gordon Green and the main cast will return. Green said recently in a podcast interview that Halloween Ends will be a “satisfying” conclusion to Laurie and Michael’s story. Curtis also hinted that Halloween Ends will be the last time she plays Laurie on screen, leading fans to believe Halloween Ends may be the last film in a self-contained trilogy.

All that said, we’re certain that if both Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends make a lot of money in theaters and on Peacock, then Universal and Blumhouse will find a way to keep the franchise alive. You can’t say no to money!
