And did all your Luci-faves get the ending they deserved? Here’s everything you need to know about the Lucifer series finale—and of course there are SPOILERS!

What happens in the Lucifer series finale?

The first half of the episode ties up the mystery that’s driven all of Season 6: why does Lucifer abandon Rory? The ep opens with Rory a prisoner of Vincent Le Mec, the maniac who killed Dan last season. Lucifer and Chloe rush to 10th and Swanson to rescue their future-daughter.

Lucifer even offers himself up to Le Mec in exchange for Rory’s life, but Rory breaks free, devils out and almost kills Le Mec. Lucifer, however, talks her down and prevents her from murdering her kidnapper.

The family then realizes that Rory didn’t exactly travel back in time to find out why her dad left her before she was born. In actuality, her arrival triggered the series of events that led Lucifer to realize his true purpose: after helping Dan and Rory make peace, he now knows that he should be the healer of Hell. Rory, knowing this is a major deal, tells her father to do it—even if it means she’ll grow up without him. Chloe and Lucifer don’t agree to this until Rory flat out tells them that this is her choice: she loves her parents, both of her parents, and she doesn’t want them to change a thing. And then, after fulfilling a mission she didn’t know she was on, she’s called back to the future.

Where do we leave the cast at the end of Lucifer?

Ella Lopez is still with Det. Carol Corbett, and now she has Miss Lopez’s STEM Initiative to run. We see her handing out t-shirts to presumably the first batch of girls accepted into the new program.

After successfully making his way to Heaven, we see Dan sharing a meal with his true love Charlotte Richards. And what’s for dessert? Pudding, obviously.

What about Maze and Eve? They’re still madly in love and working as bounty hunters. Major spinoff potential there, just saying.

Lucifer finale - Linda, Charlie, Amenadiel

Amenadiel has settled into his role as God, but that doesn’t mean he’s left his Earthly family behind. We see him pop down to Earth to visit Chloe and drop in on Linda for their son’s birthday. And—surprise—Charlie has wings! Looks like he’s a half-angel/half-human like his cousin Rory.

Speaking of Rory, Chloe—now Lt. Decker—gives birth to her. Rory gets her own “Welcome to Earth” party where she’s greeted by her highly unusual family.

As for adult Rory (remember: Rory’s angelic side causes her to age slowly, so she’s older than she looks), she returns to her timeline, right beside her elderly mother. Rory gets to essentially thank her mother for keeping all of that secret and keeping her promise. And any guilt Rory may feel is absolved when Chloe says that she wouldn’t change a thing. Then Chloe says goodbye, and Rory tells her mother that they’ll see each other “on the other side.”

So… what about Chloe and Lucifer?

Do Lucifer and Chloe end up together? Lucifer ending explained

This is what you really want to know, isn’t it? So, Lucifer is indeed back in Hell, acting as a therapist to all the damned souls. He’s even working out of a simulacrum of Dr. Linda’s office. He has three souls on his couch, including Le Mec, and he’s doing his best to help them break out of their personal Hell loops. Hell has indeed found a healer.

Back on Earth, Chloe passes away after having lived a very long life. She next appears, in the adult form that we recognize from watching six seasons of Lucifer, in an all-white space. There she’s greeted by God/Amenadiel, who asks her if she’s ready to go home. Chloe is ready—more than ready.

It turns out that Hell is home for Chloe. There’s a ring at the door to Lucifer’s “office” and, when he opens it, there’s Chloe. Remember, Chloe hasn’t seen Lucifer for probably 40-50 Earth years—and who knows how long it’s been for Lucifer! She says, “Thought you could use a partner.” Of course he could. The two reunite, ready to team-up and redeem all the lost souls of Hell for all of eternity.

Sounds like a tough gig, but we have six seasons of proof that these two can accomplish anything together.
