Netflix Revives NBC’s Canceled ‘Manifest’ for Final Season 4

It appears that the ride isn’t quite over for Flight 828 passengers after all. Netflix has announced that it has decided to revive Manifest for a fourth and final season after NBC canceled the series earlier this year.

Fans have been pushing for the series to be picked up for over two months now. The show follows a missing flight that curiously returns after 5 years although the passengers did not experience the passage of time. It was canceled by NBC on June 14, however, became an instant mainstay on Netflix’s Top 10 once Season 3 began streaming. Netflix subscribers then became part of the #SaveManifest campaign on social media.

Season 4 of Manifest will be its longest yet with 20 total episodes. Seasons 2 and 3 each had 13 episodes.

Creator and showrunner Jeff Rake was ecstatic about the news that will allow him to finish his story.

“What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime,” said Rake in a statement on Saturday. “Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life.”

He credited the show’s dedicated fanbase for making this revival possible and promised that the final season will give fans the answers they are looking for surrounding the mysteries of Flight 828.

“That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end,” Rake said. “On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers, directors, and producers, thank you to Netflix, to Warner Bros., and of course to the fans. You did this.”

The cast has also expressed their excitement for the show’s return. Josh Dallas, who portrays Ben Stone, shared on Twitter ““It’s all connected.” #manifest continues on ⁦@netflix!! #manifesters you did this. You have my heart forever. Now, sit back and brace yourselves for whats to come. The story continues! ✈️ #828.”

Melissa Roxburgh, who plays Michaela Stone, as well as Daryl Edwards, who plays Robert Vance, also weighed in on the announcement.

The renewal being announced on today’s date has significance for fans of the show who have dubbed 8/28 “Manifest Day” since the series centers around Flight 828. Some had even speculated that this news would be revealed today and they were right.

While the fourth season of Manifest does not yet have a premiere date, Netflix said to expect new episodes “in the coming months.”
