Stream It Or Skip It: ‘I Think You Should Leave’ Season 2 On Netflix, The Return of Tim Robinson’s Side-Splitting Sketch Series

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 2 years since the first season of I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson graced our screens. The uproarious sketch comedy series featuring the SNL vet and many other extremely funny people went to some truly absurd places and easily became the stuff of meme legend. The series is now back for its second season on Netflix, and it might be even funnier this time around. 

I THINK YOU SHOULD LEAVE WITH TIM ROBINSON SEASON 2: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Shot: A man prepares to eat a large hot dog at his office desk.

The Gist: The first installment of Season 2, “They said that to me at dinner.”, features a handful of sketches that begin with a man names Pat (Robinson) trying to sneak eating an absurdly large hot dog from his jacket sleeve after a meeting at work interferes with his private lunch plans. “You can’t skip lunch. You just can’t,” he says tearfully, after having vomited the remnants of the wiener all over a coworker’s bag. Others include a man named Carmine Laguzio trying (and failing) to pull off a hidden camera prank show in a mall after heavy prosthetics send him into a full-blown existential spiral, as well as a man on a ghost tour who can’t help but ask expletive-filled questions about the ghosts’ activities (despite protests from the furious tour guide).

Highlights of the first episode include Robinson protesting Spectrum’s removal of Corncob TV, home to his reality show Coffin Flop. “They’re saying Coffin Flop’s not a show!” he fumes. “It’s just hours and hours of footage of real people falling out of coffins at funerals.” (Footage from the show proves they’re not wrong). Somehow, 1 out of every 5 of the bodies falling out of the coffins daily are nude, and Robinson claims they’re allowed to show them nude because “they ain’t got no soul”. Another standout? “The Little Buff Boys Competition”, an outrageous callback to Season 1’s “Baby of the Year” sketch featuring Robinson’s longtime comedy partner Sam Richardson.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? I Think You Should Leave continues to give off some weird Adult Swim vibes and may also remind you of other beloved sketch series like Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and Mr. Show with Bob and David.

Our Take: Sophomore efforts of hit series can often be a disappointment, but fortunately, this is far from the case with I Think You Should Leave. Tim Robinson’s new series of psychotic vignettes are just as funny (if not more so, on occasion) as his first season, and that’s largely thanks to some genuinely unhinged writing and an amazing group of guest stars. If you didn’t like Season 1, you won’t enjoy Season 2, either, but for those of us who have been continually tickled by Robinson’s deranged antics, Season 2 is a total treat. With each of the six episodes clocking in at under 20 minutes, it’s ridiculously binge-able, offering maximum laughs in an extremely short amount of time.

The true beauty of I Think You Should Leave is its near-total disconnection with reality; it’s a series that fearlessly embraces a total lack of sanity and creates something singularly uproarious in the process. Social scenarios that may seem familiar at first rapidly escalate to a place only brains this bonkers could dream up, and that’s when I Think You Should Leave is at its funniest. From Robinson’s delirious screaming and Richardson’s sweat-covered forehead to the disturbed reactions of ensemble players, there’s magic in every moment. It’s easy to see why I Think You Should Leave became such a cult classic and meme goldmine in such a short period of time. I’m simply thrilled that Season 2 offers just as much hilarity as its first installment.

Sex and Skin: With the exception of some discussion of cum shots and donkey dick, not much here.

Parting Shot: The ghost tour-disrupter gets into the car with his elderly mother as she asks if he made any friends. (“Not really.”)

Sleeper Star: Sam Richardson remains one of I Think You Should Leave‘s most valuable assets, lending his electric energy to mad sketches like “The Little Buff Boys Competition” (which evokes the “Baby of the Year” sketch from last season). It’s easy to see why Robinson and Richardson have been such a dynamic duo for so long. (And who else could deliver “Look at this little brick shithouse” like Sam Richardson does?).

Most Pilot-y Line: Luckily for us, the I Think You Should Leave team has their stuff down – so no pilot-y lines here.

Our Call: STREAM IT. I Think You Should Leave is full of sketches that are genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, offering an experience as bonkers and bingeable as ever.
