Decider After Dark

Yes, Adam Demos Went Full Frontal in Netflix’s ‘Sex/Life’

Netflix’s raunchy new relationship drama Sex/Life does not skimp on the sex or nudity. There are multiple sex scenes, a literal butt ton of nudity, and at least one Fidelio-meets-Martha Stewart sex party in the suburbs. Sex/Life sometimes feels a modesty pad away from full-out pornography. Case in point: star Adam Demos gives us the full monty in Episode 3. The actor who plays Brad on Sex/Life goes full frontal in a shower scene with co-star Mike Vogel.

Sex/Life follows the tumultuous love triangle between bored housewife Billie (Sarah Shahi), yuppie husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), and the bad boy record label owner from her past, Brad (Adam Demos). Billie has the perfect life, but she yearns — almost obsessively — over her sexcapades as a single. Specifically, she is hung up on Brad. When he comes back into her life, all of Billie’s latent desires explode to the surface. Cooper’s jealousy comes out in full force when he reads Billie’s journal and he eventually goes into the city to basically spy on Brad.

In Sex/Life Episode 3 (at about 20 minutes in, you pervs!) Cooper crashes Brad’s gym and follows the stud into the showers. Why? Why do you think? He literally wants to see what Brad is packing, penis-wise. The camera actually lingers briefly on Brad’s private parts and then cuts to Cooper’s deflated expression. Yes, Brad has a big dick and Billie wants it.

Sex/Life star Adam Demos confirmed to EW.com that he was totally fine with the full frontal nude scene.

“I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you’re getting yourself into from the start, so I don’t think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute,” Demos said. “That doesn’t mean you can’t have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have – and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer.”

Huzzah for intimacy coordinators! They make television sets safer for the actors and seem to be producing really next level sex scenes to boot! (If the sex choreography in shows like Netflix’s Bridgerton and Sex/Life are any indication, at least!)

Our only quibble with the nude scene? It’s kind of weird that it happens in a shower scene and not an actual sex scene. But, hey, Sex/Life is full of weirdness. Don’t even get me started on the weird smut meets suburbia vibe of that Episode 7 sex party…
