‘Cowboy Bebop’ Drops First Netflix Teaser, Release Date, Look at John Cho’s Hair

Netflix‘s live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop finally has a release schedule. During the second day of Netflix’s Geeked Week, stars John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, and Daniella Pineda appeared in a short teaser to give fans an update on production and a premiere date. In the short video, the cast sports costumes reminiscent of their respective characters and bob their heads to Yoko Kano’s jazz theme, “Tank.”

Instead of the series typical “See You Space Cowboy” catchphrase, though, the video ends on a new kicker: “See You This Fall.” Mark your calendars, Cowboy Bebop fans: the live-action series will hit Netflix sometime in the latter half of 2021.

Cowboy Bebop wrapped production in March, and is set to follow the group of misfit bounty hunters in search of the galaxy’s valuable criminals. Cho is set to helm the series as Spike Spiegel, with Shakir and Pineda as Jet Black and Faye Valentine, respectively. The highly-anticipated sci-fi series has experienced delays over the course of production due to Cho’s on-set injury, pushing back the series for another seven to nine months.

But the wait was worth it — fans took to social media today to express their love for Cho’s look as Spike in the teaser, especially noting his new hairdo. “This lustrous John cho hair,” actress Mindy Kaling tweeted.

The teaser also confirmed that Yoko Kanno, the original composer behind the iconic soundtrack of the Cowboy Bebop anime, will be creating the soundtrack for Netflix’s upcoming reboot.

Stay tuned for a trailer, release date, and more Cowboy Bebop news.
