Courtney Love Blasts “Vile” Pamela Anderson Sex Tape Series: “Shame on Lily James”

Courtney Love is ripping Hulu‘s upcoming series Pam & Tommy, dubbing the the miniseries “outrageous” and “vile” for its portrayal of Pamela Anderson‘s sex tape with Tommy Lee. Not long after the first look photos were released showing Lily James in character as the Baywatch icon, Love shared her unfiltered thoughts on Pam & Tommy in a Facebook post that’s since been deleted, Yahoo reports.

“I find this so f–king outrageous. When Pam / tommy sex tape was out / myself @pattyschemel [Hole drummer Patty Schemel] @xmadmx [Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur] were making a record. And the lone women in many recording studios in la,” she wrote. “Where all / ALL! The staff engineers / producers / owners / were watching the sex tape with huge schadenfraude . . Guffaws , It was disgusting . I banned anyone discussing it. It destroyed my friend Pamelas life . Utterly.”

Love added that she was contacted by the show’s team about using a Rolling Stone cover with her image, which was shot by Mark Seliger and released in 1994. “Last week I was asked to approve using a rolling stone cover of mine / shot by mark seliger in this piece of s–t . That they had approved,” she wrote. “I said ‘f–k no .’ shocked . Gentleman don’t approve this sort of thing. My heart goes out to Pammy. Further causing her complex trauma.”

The new series, which was first announced in December, stars Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee alongside James’ Pamela Anderson. Love ended her message by calling out James, writing, “And shame on lily James whoever the f–k she is” with the hashtag “#vile.”

Hulu’s Pam & Tommy follows Anderson’s marriage to the Mötley Crüe musician, which lasted from 1995-1998. While they were together, the two of them recorded a sex tape that was later stolen from their home by Rand Gauthier, an electrician who previously worked for the couple. Gauthier sold the tape, which was distributed online. Seth Rogen, who shared his own photo in character last week, is set to the play Gauthier in the miniseries.
