New on Amazon Prime Video May 14: The Underground Railroad

New on Prime Video this weekend is The Underground Railroad, an original series that brings one of the best books of the last decade, Colson Whitehead’s novel of the same name, to life on our screens. Filmmaking great Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) introduces us to an alternate reality where the historic Underground Railroad is not a network to help free enslaved peoples but an actual railroad, complete with engineers, conductors, tracks, and tunnels. In this world, we meet Cora: an enslaved Black person in Georgia, who joins newcomer Caesar in an effort to ride the subterranean train to freedom. If the gut-wrenchingly beautiful clips already released from this show are any indication, The Underground Railroad is going to be a must-see of the season.
