Get Your Yuh-Jung Youn Fix In Viki Reality Travel Show, ‘Youn’s Kitchen’

Can’t get enough of Yuh-Jung Youn, the Oscar-winning, foul-mouthed Grandma from Minari who made Brad Pitt blush and the rest of us fall further in love with her during her Academy Awards acceptance speech? Well, you’re in luck, because she hosts her own food show, and you can watch it online, right now.

There’s plenty more of the 73-year-old Youn to go around, thanks to Rakuten Viki, a free streaming platform that offers all sorts of Asian programming, including Kpop, Kdrama, and the second season of a celeb-reality series called Youn’s Kitchen, in which Youn led Korean TV/movie stars Park Seo Joon, Leo Seo Jin and Jung Yu Mi to Spain’s Canary Islands.

Youn has been a TV star in South Korea since 1971, but took a 10-year break from acting while married and living in the United States, before returning to Korean television and cinema in a wide variety of scene-stealing supporting roles. All of which culminated in her success in America this past year, thanks to her turn in Minari.

But her trademark charm shines in Youn’s Kitchen. The first season found her crew opening a pop-up restaurant in India. The third season, filmed in 2020 during the pandemic shutdown, was renamed Youn’s Stay and featured Choi Woo-shik, who starred as Kim Ki-woo/Kevin in Parasite.

Here’s a clip of Park Seo Joon learning Spanish on his flight to the Canary Islands from season two of Youn’s Kitchen:

You also can see Youn in several other Viki progams, including Kdrama series Do It All Your Way (2002), Home Sweet Home (2010), Never Twice (2019); romcom series Listen To My Heart (2011) and The King 2 Hearts (2012), and the movie Beasts Clawing at Stars.
