There’s never more pressure to be cool than when you’re meeting your idols, and the Tobin men have failed that task spectacularly. In this exclusive clip, The Great North‘s Beef (Nick Offerman) and Wolf (Will Forte) finally meet their hero, legendary mountain man Tusk Johnson. To make the meeting even more stressful, Tusk is voiced by none other than J.K. Simmons. You better believe that silliness ensues.
After fawning over Tusk Johnson for a few seconds, Beef and Wolf approach him. That’s when their idolizing goes from awkward to just plain weird. With every “Hi,” Beef and Wolf’s voices climb an octave higher, demonstrating an impressive range from both Offerman and Forte.
“Are you guys singing?” Tusk asks. “Are you like the male Judds?”

The Great North has emerged as one of the sweetest and silliest new shows of the 2021 TV season. Created by Bob’s Burgers‘ veterans Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux and Regular Show writer Minty Lewis, The Great North primarily tells the story of Judy, a passionate and ambitious girl who has big dreams beyond her Alaskan home. But mostly it’s a family comedy about love, acceptance, and gently mocking the unrelenting oddities of life in an Alaskan small town. In addition to Offerman, Forte, and Slate, Dulcé Sloan stars as Honeybee, Paul Rust stars as Ham Tobin, and Aparna Nancherla stars as the youngest Tobin man, Moon.
Episode 9, “Tusk in the Wind Adventure,” will also follow Judy (Jenny Slate) and the rest of the Tobin clan as they become addicted to one of the greatest sagas of the ’80s: Dynasty. Any episode that features Wolf being a weirdo and Judy getting a bit too obsessive is a guaranteed curling bullseye, so we have high hopes for this one.
The Great North airs on Fox this Sunday, April 18 at 8:30/7:30c.
