Billy Eichner Predicted ‘Bachelor’ Colton Underwood’s Sexuality In 2019

Billy Eichner: Comedian, actor, host of Billy on the Street, and… Sexuality soothsayer? Bachelor star Colton Underwood came out as gay today in an interview that aired on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts. “I’m gay,” Underwood said. “And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it.” Underwood added that he’s the “happiest” and “healthiest” he’s ever felt.

…But the Season 23 lead, who starred on ABC’s reality dating show in 2019, already heard his destiny while filming the season, straight from the mouth of Eichner.

When Underwood asked Eichner on one episode what he looked for in a partner, Eichner shot back: “I’m gay. I know that’s a shock, Colton… And that, I think, you should look into. Maybe you’re the first gay Bachelor and we don’t even know!”

Underwood looked away, stuttered then giggled in shock, while Bachelor host Chris Harrison sat silently next to Eichner.

“Put that in your promo,” Eichner told the crew and, by extension, ABC. “See you later!”

Later is now, and today Eichner expressed his support for Underwood, writing on Twitter: “I’m happy for @colton. If you’re gay, be gay! I’ve been gay forever & I love it!”

Before today, Underwood hadn’t updated his Twitter feed since Aug. 17, 2020, when he quoted Biblical scripture: “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. —Psalm 29:11.”

Perhaps this was the peace he ultimately sought, through the strength of coming out today.

But with the coming out announcement in the rearview mirror, Eichner predicts even bigger things for Underwood.

“Here’s how Hollywood works: Colton’s gonna get a GLAAD Award before I do,” joked Eichner.

Given Eichner is currently filming the first major movie studio rom-com about gay men, BROS, which he co-wrote with director Nicholas Stoller, with an August 2022 release date from Universal Pictures… Maybe he could kickstart that GLAAD Award push by casting Underwood? That way, if GLAAD does give it to Underwood, at least it could be for co-starring with Eichner, the man who predicted it all.
