‘The Conners’ Crew Member Dies After Medical Event on Set

A crew member has died on the set of ABC sitcom The ConnersTMZ reports. A rep from the series’ production company, Werner Entertainment, confirmed that an employee working with The Conners‘ technical crew had died, but they did not release the name of the individual.

“With heavy hearts we regret to confirm that a member of our technical crew suffered a fatal medical event today,” the rep shared in a statement. “He was a much-loved member of The Conners and Roseanne families for over 25 years.” They continued, “As we remember our beloved colleague, we ask that you respect the privacy of his family and loved ones as they begin their grieving process.”

While few details are known about the circumstances surrounding the crew member’s death, the deceased reportedly worked mostly on lighting for the show and was working on the catwalk on Stage 22 at the CBS Studio Center when they suffered a medical emergency on Thursday, the final day of production on Season 3. Although medical personnel were called, the crew member was pronounced dead on the scene. He was reportedly in his 50s or 60s.

The Conners, which has been on air since 2018, stars many of the original Roseanne cast members, including John Goodman, Sarah Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalfe. The show was designed as a spinoff to Roseanne after the long-running comedy was canceled following racist tweets from its series star, Roseanne Barr.

The series was renewed for a third season last year, which first premiered on ABC in the fall. Season 3 is set to include 19 episodes in total, with new episodes premiering at 9/8c Wednesdays on ABC. The Conners has not yet been renewed for Season 4.
