‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Is Now on HBO Max

After years of fan campaigns and $70 million in reshoots, the day has arrived: Zack Snyder’s Justice League, or “The Snyder Cut,” is finally on HBO Max. The new version of Justice League comes after DC fans dissatisfied with Joss Whedon’s version of the film urged Warner Bros. to release original director Zack Synder‘s vision for the film, which is now streaming after a four-year wait.

While Snyder left the project with his own rough draft of Justice League, what we’re seeing now on HBO Max is a glossy, revamped version of the original cut. Thanks to a massive budget, Snyder was able to finish his abandoned project and apply the special effects, CGI, and final touches needed to hopefully make fans forget all about the disappointing Justice League they saw in theaters years ago.

Whether you’re a DC diehard or just curious about one of 2021’s most highly-anticipated releases, here’s what you need to know about watching the Snyder Cut now that it’s on HBO Max.

SNYDER CUT REVIEW: WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING ABOUT THE NEW JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE?

Although there’s been no shortage of hype surrounding the Snyder Cut, Decider’s Alex Zalben described the new version of the superhero tale as “just fine.”

“The four hour long film, which will be released on HBO Max this Thursday (March 18) has been one of the most divisive and discussed topics in entertainment for years now, but the end result is neither the savior nor the destroyer of cinema that many viewers and critics will most likely hail it as in the coming days (and weeks [and years]),” he wrote. “Instead, it’s exactly as advertised: Snyder’s original ‘vision’ of 2017’s Justice League, for all the highs and lows that implies. Some of the never-before seen scenes are pretty excellent. Some are cringe-worthy and atrocious. But the large majority of them? They are best described as: okay.”
