Where to Watch ‘The Sound of Music’

Christopher Plummer, star of The Sound of Music, has died at the age of 91. While the actor starred in dozens of films over the years, he’s perhaps most well-known for his portrayal of Captain von Trapp in the 1965 award-winning film, which tells the story of a governess (Julie Andrews) who leaves her Austrian covent to care for the von Trapp children.

Plummer famously detested The Sound of Music, even calling the film “awful and sentimental and gooey” and his role as von Trapp an “empty carcass of a role.” Still, the movie won over critics, securing five Oscars, including Best Picture, plus a Golden Globe. And even decades later, it stands out as one of the classics.

If you’ve never seen The Sound of Music, you’re in for a treat. And if you have seen it already, there’s no better time to revisit the film.
