7 Shows Like ‘Julie and the Phantoms’ to Watch While You Wait for Season 2

Julie and the Phantoms, Netflix’s sweet, supernatural drama from High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, brought a little music and color into our lives when it premiered last fall. The hit series, which is inspired by a Brazilian show of the same name, follows Julie (Madison Reyes), a high schooler who’s haunted by the ghosts of a boy band. When it turns out they’re not so scary, Julie decides to keep the boys around, and together, they teach her how to love music again and embrace her talent for singing, which she pushed to the side after her mom’s death.

Decider’s Liz Kocan praised the series as “funny, full of heart, and just a little bit mysterious” in her Julie and the Phantoms review. “In addition to the fun, well-written storytelling, the performers are top-notch … Julie is full of great performances, peppy pop songs, and a solid storyline we’re excited to dig into.”

And it turns out we weren’t the only ones ready to binge the dramedy — after the success of Season 1, Julie and the Phantoms just might be on track to be renewed for Season 2, bringing on more catchy tunes and mysteries to come.
