7 Shows Like ‘Tiny Pretty Things’

Netflix’s Tiny Pretty Things has fans mesmerized, whether they’ve trained classically for years or never even slipped on a pointe shoe. The dance drama follows a group of dedicated students at the elite Archer School of Ballet in Chicago, and while the dancers all come from different backgrounds, but they’re bound by their talent and drive.

Tiny Pretty Things is all about dance, but don’t mistake it for a glittery, pastel-hued look at the sport. Instead, it digs in deep, starting off with a horrifying crime when a dancer is pushed off the roof of the school building, and continuing to serve secrets, sex and intrigue with every episode.

Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why follows a high school reeling after the death of a student, Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford). Before Hannah took her own life, she left behind a series of tapes explaining what led to her decision, and it’s up to Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) to listen and piece together Hannah’s motives. In each recording, Hannah provides a different reason for her death, and as Clay continues to listen, he gets closer to learning if he is on the list, too.

'Bunheads'

Like Tiny Pretty Things, Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Bunheads brings the drama, tension and hard work of dance to the small screen. Michelle Simms (Sutton Foster), a professional dancer turned Las Vegas showgirl moves to California with her new husband, where the two of them share a home with his dance teacher mom, Fanny (Kelly Bishop). When her husband dies in a car accident, Michelle turns to Fanny’s dance academy, where she helps teach and begins to bond with the students.

'Euphoria'

HBO’s Euphoria, the dark drama that earned Zendaya her first Emmy, shares some of the same themes of Tiny Pretty Things, but drops the prestigious dance academy and turns to a regular high school where students are dealing with the same issues of trauma, depression and addiction. Euphoria, which is based on an Israeli series of the same name, comes from creator Sam Levinson and stars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and more.

But Claire has demons and darkness of her own, and Paul’s temper doesn’t help.
