Pete Davidson Takes on Iconic George Bailey Role for ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ Table Read

George Bailey is getting a Staten Island accent and a whole bunch of tattoos this holiday season thanks to SNL‘s Pete Davidson, who is putting his own spin on James Stewart’s iconic It’s a Wonderful Life role. Davidson is set to star as the troubled banker in a table read of Frank Capra’s classic 1946 film, Vulture reports. The holiday event, which will take place for one night only on Sunday, Dec. 13, is organized by The Ed Asner Family Center, which provides resources for special needs children and their families.

Davidson will be joined by his King of Staten Island costar Maude Apatow, who will play Violet Bick for the table read, along with plenty of other stars whose roles have yet to be revealed. Mia Farrow, Ellie Kemper, Carol Kane, Ed Begley Jr., Diedrich Bader, Bill Pullman, Richard Kind, B.D. Wong, and Michael Shannon will all participate in the table read, plus some surprise guests.

“We are so thrilled to have Pete reenact the role of George in It’s a Wonderful Life with his talented wit and clever vocalizations,” said Matthew Asner, Co-Founder/President/CEO of The Ed Asner Family Center per Deadline, who first reported the news. “And we look forward to having Maude join the cast as Violet with her creative flair. Please join us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to snuggle up on your couch and experience this all-star cast virtual table read from the comfort of your own home, while helping to raise money for The Ed Asner Family Center. It will be a very meaningful night!”

Superstore director Victor Nelli will direct the table read, which will be hosted by former Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron. The virtual event will also honor Sony Pictures Television President Jeffrey Frost, who will be presented with an award by producer Norman Lear.

Tickets are on sale for the event right now, with prices ranging from $50 per household for general admission to $250 for a “deluxe custom holiday gift box,” which includes an autographed Ed Asner book and more. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, you can catch the It’s a Wonderful Life virtual gala on Dec. 13 at 8/7c.
