Woman Crush Wednesday: ‘The Mandalorian’ Star Katee Sackhoff is Out of this World

The scariest thing about this year’s Halloween season is how quickly it flew by! Here we are, already with Halloween on Saturday, November starting on Sunday, and today with our last Woman Crush Wednesday of October. Before you start getting ready for the end of spooky szn, get ready for one final treat as we celebrate a talented woman who makes that punk Baby Yoda look like chopped liver (I mean, seriously, I love the guy, but he’s only ever been in one thing!). So, without further ado, give it up for your final WCW of the month, the kick-ass Katee Sackhoff!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Katee Sackhoff

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Sackhoff is joining Emmy winning hit Disney+ Original series The Mandalorian for its second season, which begins dropping episodes weekly on the platform this Friday, October 30th. The show’s sophomore season will follow the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) as he attempts to return The Child (AKA world renowned celebrity and icon, Baby Yoda) to his home, all the while running from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), delving into mysteries and characters introduced in season one, while also introducing new characters, many of whom we know and love from other Star Wars movies and shows. Sackhoff plays Bo-Katan Kryze, a character she voiced in the animated Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, and who will hopefully provide some greater insight on the lives of other Mandalorians. We can’t wait to learn more about Sackhoff’s character and to see the great work she will do in this incredible series.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Sackhoff has had an insanely impressive career over the past two decades, accumulating a vast array of credits which exemplifies what it means to have range and success as an actor. Her professional on-screen career began in 1998 in TV drama film Fifteen and Pregnant alongside Kirsten Dunst. Sackhoff had roles in films like 1999 TV movie Locust Valley, 2001 romantic comedy-drama My First Mister, and 2002 slasher horror Halloween: Resurrection, plus roles both guest and recurring in television series like MTV comedy-drama anthology Undressed in 2000, Fox horror The Fearing Mind from 2000 to 2001, CBS drama The Education of Max Bickford from 2001 to 2002, and NBC medical drama ER in 2002 before her breakout role as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace in 2003 action drama mini-series Battlestar Galactica (a role she reprised in the military sci-fi series of the same name from 2004 to 2009, and then again in 2007 TV movie, Battlestar Galactica: Razor).

Since Battlestar Galactica, Sackhoff has continued to put in the work and appear in numerous projects across screens big and small. Over the last decade, she has been in films such as 2011 animated superhero flick Batman: Year One, 2013 sci-fi action movie Riddick, 2013 supernatural psychological horror Oculus, 2014 crime thriller Tell, 2016 supernatural horror Don’t Knock Twice, and 2018 sci-fi adventure 2036 Origin Unknown, as well as in popular series like Robot Chicken, Law & Order, Nip/Tuck, The Big Bang Theory, 24, CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationThe Flash, and Another Life (of which she also produced four episodes), you know, just to name a few. Sackhoff is clearly a phenomenal talent and we’re excited to see more of her wonderful work for many years to come.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: You can look forward to seeing more of Sackhoff’s work in the next year, so look out for her in these upcoming two projects. She will be back as Niko Breckinridge in a 2021 episode of Another Life, and will also play Olivia Fox in sci-fi film The Last Transport, which is currently in pre-production. The movie revolves around the last transport off a doomed Earth that has two seats on it, but four people show up (and, naturally, drama and action ensue). For even more from Sackhoff while you wait, you can follow her on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
